The aim of the Oman-German University of Technology
(OGTech) is to position itself as a centre of excellence
in research and education within the region, following
the model of RWTH Aachen University, to which it
is affiliated.
Research at RWTH Aachen is characterised by an international
and interdisciplinary approach, with a strong emphasis
on close links to industry. The success of research
undertaken at RWTH Aachen is underlined by significant
third-party funding, amounting to ___________ million
Euros in 2006, as well as an impressive record of
technology spin-offs (more than 500 SMEs in the
past 20 years resulting in numerous developments,
patents and licenses. Thanks to an environment that
is conducive to innovations, several major research
and production centres, including Philips Research
Laboratories, Ericsson Eurolab, Ford Research Lab
Aachen and the second Microsoft Innovation Centre
in Europe, have been established in the vicinity
of the University in order to take advantage of
research carried out there.
